bay bridgeSan Francisco’s famous Bay Bridge is being shut down by the California Highway Patrol in both directions.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle , “pieces of the cantilever section section fell during the late-afternoon commute.”

Interestingly enough, Twitter was first on the scene, as the commuter Joe Marshall (@larfo ) snapped this Twitpic of the Bay Bridge debris.
