So I’ve been asked several times about the move I made for PHPDeveloper.org from the Zend Framework over to Solar with the main question being “why?”

Well, I hate to break it to any of the framework zealots out there but the only real reason I had for doing it was the old “try something new” idea that floats around every so often.

My main question isn't "why?". . .

It's "why everything?". Solar components work very well alongside ZF components, and I'm sure each project has it's strong points. Even if the plan were to completely shift to Solar, wouldn't it make sense to shift one component at a time if for no other reason than risk mitigation?
I'll be honest, I saw the original post, and I would have very much like to have seen something like "We're using Solar components alongside our ZF components", because I'm not sure how many people are aware of the use-at-will nature of both frameworks.
In any case, best of luck with whatever framework you're using.
