The game press is buzzing with reports that major studios are on track to receive next-generation development kits from Microsoft by the end of the year.

There are rumors that Microsoft will demo the Xbox Next/720/Rutabaga (pick your favorite code word) at CES, with a launch possible as early as next year.

One unnamed studio is reportedly already focusing on PS4 games. Are new consoles right around the corner?

Probably not — and for good reasons.

On Friday October 21, Nintendo America's President, Reggie Fils-Aime, took to Twitter in a bit of PR for some recent announcements from the company.

However a lot of Twitter users took this to mean that he would actually be communicating with fans. Sadly, he did nothing of real note on twitter.

Fils-Aime posted a total of seven tweets in a span of about 8 hours.

Nintendo has announced that its new Wii U console will have neither Blu-Ray nor DVD playback, citing that customers already have devices to play movies.

According to current info, the Wii's successor (Wii 2?) will contain: 8GB of internal flash-based storage, 25GB optical discs (Nintendo has not stated what types of discs these are), and HD graphics support.
