Sourceforge: I've had random people come up to talk to me at conferences to ask what I'm doing at SourceForge. The basic message is always some version of this SourceForge has lost its way over the past few years.

Sometimes opportunities come along that you just can't pass up. Such as the case for me these days; I'll be leaving my job as Community Development Manager at SourceForge for a job at Engine Yard as the PHP Community Manager.

As you might have heard, Engine Yard recently acquired Orchestra, and as such, is making a splash in the PHP space.

Christian Weiske has a new post about a move the phpfarm tool has made over to SourceForge for its project page. phpfarm makes it simple to switch between multiple versions of PHP on the same server to make debugging and development a much simpler task (especially if you're not in a homogeneous environment).


 

SourceForge, Inc. Changes its Name to Geeknet, Inc.

Geeknet: "SourceForge, Inc. today announced that it has changed its name to Geeknet, Inc. to more accurately reflect the company’s business and the growing market it serves.

The name change also supports the company’s intention to expand the reach of its online advertising services into new categories."


 

Hosting review for open source projects

Linux.com goes live looking for Linux gurus

Netstat -vat: "Linux.com has been relaunched under the direction of the Linux Foundation. The Linux.com site was acquired by the Linux Foundation earlier this year from SourceForge for an an undisclosed sum"


 

Linux Foundation Launches Linux Lovers Paradise

When the Linux Foundation acquired the Linux.com domain from SourceForge earlier this year, it vowed to relaunch the site as more than just a go-to place for Linux-related news.

The new site went live this morning and it's sporting enough bells and whistles to make any Linux enthusiast proud.
