Making a move to Half Off Depot - Brian DeShong

Planet PHP  Tue, 06/14/2011 - 20:26

I’m happy to announce that I’ll be joining Half Off Depot, LLC as Lead Software Architect on June 27th.

Half Off Depot is a growing, promising startup here in Atlanta.

As you might gather from the name, they’re in the daily deals space, sort of along the lines of Groupon and LivingSocial.

As of this writing, they have been focusing on the Atlanta, Georgia and Knoxville, Tennessee markets.

I’ll be focusing on a number of areas, both server-side and in the mobile app arena, in addition to helping build the technology team.

Collective Wisdom from the Experts - Federico Cargnelutti

Planet PHP  Mon, 06/06/2011 - 17:06

I’ve finally had a chance to read a book I bought a while ago called “97 Things Every Software Architect Should Know – Collective Wisdom from the Experts”.

Not the shortest title for a book, but very descriptive. I bought this book at the OSCON Conference in Portland last year.

It’s an interesting book and I’m sure anyone involved in software development would benefit from reading it.
