Here's what was popular in the PHP community one year ago today:

After only a minor amount of study, today I took the Zend Certified Engineer (ZCE) exam at Excom. I was able to pass the test successfully on the first try!

To prepare for the exam, I took a number of steps that may or may not work for you.

I’ve been working with PHP since version 3, so I’m quite familiar with the language itself; you may need either more or less preparation.

This is a list of the steps that seemed to work for me:

I started my “PHP Job Hunter’s Handbook” many moons ago, and had interest from PHP Architect last summer/fall about publishing it.  After some false starts in finishing it, we wrapped it up several weeks ago, and happily it’s ‘out there’.  Whew!

So, I'm sorta back. I found an ancient backup of this site from October 2006. I also have a copy (thanks Helgi!) of anything that hit Planet PHP, so when I get some time I'll push that stuff back into the DB.

My other sites (zceguide.com, for example) will slowly but surely come back online as time goes by.

We can expect big things from Davey Shafik in the coming months - he's been working on a book for php|architect about one of the more powerful bits of functionality in PHP - streams.
