A round of celebratory cheers from Google fans went up yesterday after the company announced a new feature addition to its search pages. It all started when the company noticed an abnormal amount of traffic was still targeting a datacenter that had been taken offline for maintenance.

It seems that the latest security patches from Microsoft, deployed over the last Patch Tuesday, are causing serious problems for some users of Windows, including Windows 7.

Tuesday's nine security patches are all about networking, the Internet, servers and interoperable components that tie everything together.

Expect nine patches in Microsoft's August security update, five "critical" and four "important," according to an advanced notification from Redmond.

Linux Magazine: "The Windows and Mac versions are now being patched. Linux users will have to wait."

One week to the day Microsoft announced it was working on a patch to correct problems concerning System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) -- problems that have rendered some SCCM users unable to deploy June's security patches -- the company on Monday issued another security advisory, this time alerting users about a glitch that prevents security updates from being distributed through specific Windows Server Update programs.
