The RIAA is upset because Google refuses to remove the popular “MP3 Music Download Pro” app from the Android market.

“We sent a takedown notice to Google in August for this particular app, which is clearly being used for illegal purposes, and Google responded that they were declining to remove it from the Android Market,” [...]

U.S. Anti-Piracy Police Kept Secret From The Public

Digg / Tech Industry News  Thu, 08/11/2011 - 14:15

Last month the MPAA and RIAA made a deal with all the major Internet providers in the United States to systematically hunt down file-sharers.

Get Accused Of Copyright Infringement Under New Five Strikes Pla...

Techdirt  Thu, 07/07/2011 - 14:30

I wanted to do another follow-up on the post earlier today about the new five strikes plan "voluntarily" put in place by most of the major US ISPs and the RIAA/MPAA.

It’s taken a while, but Google has finally caved in to pressure from the entertainment industries including the MPAA and RIAA.

Record Labels Angry That Hadopi Isn't Kicking People Off The Int...

Techdirt  Thu, 12/16/2010 - 17:33

A few months back, we noted that Hadopi, the French bureaucracy in charge of sending out "you're an infringer" notices and then kicking people off the internet under that country's three strikes plan, was receiving 25,000 notices from record labels per day (there was some confusion on that story, as I originally believed Hadopi was sending out 25,000 notices, but it was only receiving that many).
