IBM made a few announcements at its Lotusphere 2011 event today, including some upcoming social networking improvements plus the debut of a new cloud-based productivity suite called "LotusLive Symphony."

An industry-sponsored survey of IT professionals found that just four percent have deployed Microsoft Office 2010, although interest remains high in the productivity suite.

Linux Magazine: "The lack of a grammar checker is a pet peeve of many OpenOffice.org users. But there is a solution for those who are in desperate need of grammar checking capabilities in the productivity suite."

MyBroadband: "In June Microsoft will release a final version of its Office 2010 productivity suite. Naturally many users will upgrade, at substantial cost, to the latest version of the popular Office suite, but for those not so eager to hand over their money to Microsoft there are still many great alternatives"

Microsoft is developing application compatibility tools for Office 2010 to help IT organizations migrate to the new productivity suite when it becomes available.
