PHP job vacancies have bucked national trends by increasing in number despite the global economic slowdown.

With more vacancies and a limitted pool of developers, has produced the emergence of recruiters set to cut themselves in for a slice of the PHP pie.

Dave Marshall, a developer from Hull, England, has posted a few recommendations he thinks could help you land that next PHP job.

Doug Brown has posted a new review of a book by Michael Kimsal, the "PHP Job Hunter's Handbook" (from php|architect publishing).

Michael Kimsal following the release of his new book from php|architect press, the "PHP Job Hunter's Handbook", has relaunched the book's website with lots of new content and features.

Congratulations to Michael Kimsal on his book, "the "PHP Job Hunter's Handbook", being published:

I started my “PHP Job Hunter’s Handbook” many moons ago, and had interest from PHP Architect last summer/fall about publishing it.  After some false starts in finishing it, we wrapped it up several weeks ago, and happily it’s ‘out there’.  Whew!

Manuel Lemos did an interview with Maurício Garcia on the topic of PHP certification.  It’s good to see this sort of thing talked about more, and to get an ‘international’ point of view.  My view on the topic is somewhat necessarily limited by my geography and experiences, but seem to mirror Mauricio’s fairly closely.

So, tomorrow (technically *today* in Australia!) is the date for PDF delivery of my brother’s new book - the PHP Architect’s Guide to Programming with Magento (I think that’s the full title).  More details here.  I’m really excited for him, as I know he put a lot of work over the past several months learning Magento and writing the book.  The biggest challenege was dealing with the underlying architecture changes that the Magento team
