You can almost hear Intellectual Ventures' lawyers cackling with glee in announcing that they've filed their latest patent infringement lawsuit against Motorola Mobility -- the company that Google is buying for its patents.

Clearly, this is a shot at Google.

We recently broke the story of a small search software outlet named Masterobjects taking on Amazon.com in a notable patent infringement lawsuit, later also taking Google to court.

Now it's apparently Microsoft's turn to get sued by the company, and my guess is more will follow.

A couple of years ago, we wrote about a patent infringement lawsuit filed by a guy named Gary Odom, who is better known in the patent blogging world as the Patent Hawk.

He's an... aggressive supporter of all things patent, and has a way with words, often shown off in his inimical insult-to-backuppable-statement ratio, seen at times here in the Techdirt comments.

A bunch of folks have been passing on variations of the story that Google has lost the patent infringement lawsuit filed against it by Bedrock Computer Technologies, concerning patent 5,893,120.

The jury has ordered Google to pay $5 million for that infringement. $5 million is pocket change to Google, but hopefully it'll continue to fight.

There are some interesting points concerning this case.

Gemalto digital security company has launched a patent infringement lawsuit against Google, and phone makers, for alleged infringed technology related to Java apps on memory constrained devices, such as smartphones
