Package Management With Zypper

Linux Magazine: "Zypper is a command line tool for package management, it's based on ZYpp, aka libzypp.

The WikiPedia entry for Zypp says: "Unlike other common package managers, it provides a powerful satisfiability solver to compute package dependencies and a convenient package management API."

Softpedia: "Back in August 2005, Matthew Paul Thomas submitted, on the Ubuntu wiki page, an idea and design of a piece of software that would unify all the existing package managers in the Ubuntu distribution.

At the moment, the software is called AppCenter, and it was recently brought into spotlight."

Package management—the process of determining which update packages should be installed on a host and then downloading and installing those package—invites a dilemma : OSes need to updated, but the process of updating them can invite security breaches.
