On January 6, the US National Security Agency (NSA) released the first public release of the Security Enhanced (SE) Android Project, a program designed to find and plug security holes and risks in the Android flavor of Linux.

SE Android is based on the NSA’s SELinux, first released in 2000.

ClamAV is an open source project that helps identify malicious threats like trojeans, viruses and malware.

I am truly delighted to announce that "my" book is published.

Technically it's really "our" book since I had the pleasure of co-authoring with friends and PHP rockstars Davey Shafik and Matt Turland.

I'm teaching some new public courses next month (in Leeds), so I thought I'd mention them on the blog in case anyone is interested.

I'm super-excited because this is the first time I've delivered my own training content as a public course, so even if you aren't in the position where you work with lots of people who need the same training, you can pop along!

I was a little flummoxed to read about the launch of Tizen, a new open source mobile and device operating system based on Linux.

Earlier this month I wondered aloud about MeeGo, and this is the final nail in the coffin of that mobile OS, as Intel and the Linux Foundation have moved on to support Tizen instead.

And Samsung has joined in.

Hmmm. This is where it gets interesting.
