Microsoft has given its users an unprecedented view into the development of Windows 8 but nothing matches the scope of the latest unveil.

Steven Sinofksy himself has descended from his lofty throne and taken up pen and paper to describe Windows on ARM (WOA) in great detail.

Technology is accelerating at an exponential rate. If you need proof of this, look at the kind of tools that we had in the 1800s (looms, steam engines), 1900s (airplanes, nuclear bombs, supercomputers), and 2000s (touchscreens, brain-computer interfaces, and who knows what else).

This ever-accelerating bleeding edge creates two very noticeable effects: a) The world of today looks very different to the world you grew up in, and b) You never quite know what’s going to happen next.


 

Antitrust concerns force changes to Novell patent sale

CPTN Holdings has altered some of the terms of their patent purchase from Novell in response to antitrust concerns raised by the U.S.

Department of Justice (DOJ). The DoJ announced on Wednesday, that “as originally proposed, the deal would jeopardize the ability of open source software, such as Linux, to continue to innovate and compete in the development and distribution of server, desktop, and mobile operating systems, middleware, and virtualization products.”


 

Global Smartphone Market Expected to Double in 2011
