Funniest/Most Insightful Comments Of The Week At Techdirt

Techdirt  Sun, 11/20/2011 - 14:00

Well, here's a surprise. For the past few years, we've had one "critic" in our comments in particular who has been particularly active.

Yes, there is a small group of regular critics, but one has been, by far, the most active and most thorough in making sure to disagree with almost every post, often in somewhat ridiculous ways.

He will, no doubt, now accuse me of unfairly violating his privacy, but this is not true. His style is so clear and so easy to spot, I know his comments as soon as they show up and I have no clue who he really is.

I just can tell which are his comments.

The Capitalist Lion Tamer has only been commenting on Techdirt for a short while, but he's quickly jumped to the top of many people's "favorites" lists, and regularly has his own comments score highly on both the insightful and funny scales.

We figured why not set him loose on doing his own favorites of the week post, and it appears he delivered the goods.

Techdirt  Thu, 12/30/2010 - 14:17

Right before the iPad launched, we warned media companies that expected iPad apps to be their savior that they were making a mistake.

Specifically, it seemed that this was all wishful thinking from publishers, who were hoping to go back to a gated system that they had used for many years.

They were betting on restrictions, which is never a good bet. Of course, the early numbers actually sounded good, with many magazines trumpeting how many iPad subscribers they got in the first few months.

Even OpenSUSE recognises drawbacks of Mono

Linux Today  Wed, 06/03/2009 - 12:01

IT Wire: "Mention Mono in a story and you are certain to draw two kinds of readers - the followers, those who have drunk the kool-aid ladled out by Novell vice-president Miguel de Icaza, and the detractors, who realise that it could cause them patent headaches a few years hence."
