In a new post to his blog today Michelangelo talks about a joint effort between the Dutch PHP user group phpGG and the PHP Belgium group - BugHuntDay.org.

During October 2007, the popular BitTorrent tracker OiNK was shut down in a joint effort by Dutch and British law enforcement.

Today, OiNK admin Alan Ellis has been charged with conspiracy to defraud. Charges against four OiNK uploaders will follow later today.

The DMCA lets copyright holders send takedown messages to various sites, demanding allegedly infringing content be taken offline.

It's been rather successful in doing that. A few years ago, a great site, Chilling Effects sprung up to track all sorts of takedown notices (not just having to do with copyright, but any kind of cease & desist threats -- though DMCA takedowns are common).
