There's plenty of talk making the rounds about Steve Jobs' comments about Android in the authorized biography that's coming out next week.

In it, Jobs apparently makes it clear that he was absolutely furious about Android "ripping off" the iPhone.


 

Can gamification help solve the online anonymity problem?

Some news sites such as The Huffington Post use badges and other kinds of reward systems to encourage user engagement and positive behavior in their online communities.

Could doing this help Google overcome the downsides of anonymity without banning users who don't use their real name?

There's been a lot of attention lately to the massive problems with the patent system. Finally the problem has gone mainstream, in part thanks to the excellent This American Life episode on problems with the patent system.

We regularly see established newspaper journalists look down on the world of sites that add value to news by assuming that aggregating, commenting on and providing context for news first reported by others is somehow a "lesser" product.

Of course, what they're doing in some sense is overinflating their own role in the media ecosystem. After all, they don't make the news (usually).

They're really adding value to the actual events by reporting on it. The others are then adding additional value to the reporting.

It's all part of the ecosystem.
