Groklaw: "The White House is asking us to give them ideas on what is blocking innovation in America. I thought I'd give them an honest answer.

Here it is: Current intellectual property laws are blocking innovation."

The latest example is the article on Groklaw about Novell's interactions with Microsoft over Microsoft's Office Open XML file format."

IT World: "Over my holiday break, I read with some interest the self-examination conducted by Pamela Jones in her Christmas Day article on Groklaw.

I think the time has come for Jones to seriously reevaluate the roles she and her team of Groklaw volunteers have within the free and open source community."

Linux Planet: "Novell throws FOSS under the bus to make a deal with Microsoft. Pamela Jones wonders why bother with Groklaw, if helping companies like Novell only leads to getting the shaft yet again?"

Groklaw: "The Oracle v. Google Java litigation now begins in earnest, with each side offering a proposed protective order, along with a handy table of the disputed provisions.

Say, I think Groklaw has a claim for prior art on that kind of table."

Groklaw: "Novell has sold itself to Attachmate Corporation. There is a side deal selling "certain intellectual property assets" to CPTN Holdings LLC, "a consortium of technology companies organized by Microsoft"."

Groklaw: "Do you remember when Google, Apple, Facebook, OfficeMax, Yahoo! and Netflix/OfficeDepot/Staples/eBay all filed motions to dismiss or sever Paul Allen's Interval Licensing's patent infringement complaint?

They filed to dismiss for misjoinder and Google filed a motion to dismiss for failure to state a claim. Google and the others want the cases separated into eleven instead of one humungous case, if the court doesn't toss the complaint out."

Groklaw: "Oracle has filed a Reply Memorandum regarding its motion to dismiss or strike Google's invalidity counterclaim, some of Google's affirmative defenses, and some of Google's Answer, what Oracle called "impertinent matter", and it in essence said never mind."

Groklaw: "So. A crusade to destroy Google. By folks who count Microsoft as an important client, with new clients, at least one of them directly referred to the "crusaders" by Microsoft and the rest now under their umbrella.

My stars, gentlemen. Where is your subtlety?"
