PHP Advent 2011: Out with the Old, In with the...

This sort of debate comes up every so often among folks who run news/commentary sites, and it seems to have boiled over again recently, as a bunch of newspapers/blogging folks got into a nice little discussion on the goodness or evilness of anonymous comments.

Not surprisingly, I side with Mathew Ingram on this one.

The call for papers for the SPLASH conference is now up.

The site for DSL'09, which took place two months ago in Oxford, is a treasure trove for DSL fans.

While the blog format may be a bit confusing for a conference website, you should be able to find your way around to links to slides and paper versions of the presentations.

Even better, the posts include various comments people made about the papers (each talk was followed by a comment from a discussant).

Apparently one can even join in and post comments!

It’s no secret that I’m a Linux fan. I love it. I use it. I tell of its goodness far and wide. It’s also true, however, that I administer and use a variety of operating systems throughout any given day.

I like to think that makes me more objective than some, and I like to think more people will pay attention to me if I don’t bash every other operating system out there.
