Ubuntu Geek: "IMHO the new gdm 2.28 shipped by default with Ubuntu 9.10 is really just work in progress.

It's fine for what it currently supports, but it does not support the range of functionality that gdm 2.20 does.

Perhaps the biggest issue is Multiseat X."

Experimenting with GNU/Linux: "The normal way to switch to a different desktop is to log out from the current desktop , select a new session from the gdm login window and login again.

However, it is possible to open a new desktop environment in a virtual console using xnest nested xserver."
