ISPs, Academics and Citizens Oppose EU Anti-Piracy Legislation

Today the European Commission published the responses to a public consultation on Europe’s anti-piracy directive IPRED.

As expected, there is a huge divide between the copyright holders on the one hand, and Internet providers, academics and citizens on the other.

The latter fiercely oppose the draconian measures that IPRED introduces, claiming it threatens basic human rights while stifling innovation.

EU ACTA Negotiator Removed From Negotiations

Not much in the way of details, but a week after EU negotiators briefed the EU Parliament on ACTA, the head EU negotiator, Luc Devigne, is apparently out of that role.

There's some speculation that perhaps (hopefully?) this means that the European Commission is finally losing its enthusiasm for ACTA, due to the growing opposition around the globe.
