Ford’s tumble on the J.D. Power Initial Quality Survey (IQS) may be further proof that adding technology to cars is a double-edged sword.

Buyers love iPod adapters and Bluetooth, but some owners have trouble getting up to speed on touchscreen displays and on-board navigation.

Rather than read the manual or ask the dealer for help, buyers take it out on the automaker when they’re surveyed.

In the current IQS the most tech-savvy U.S. automaker, Ford, fell from No. 5 to No. 23 out of 32 automakers.

BMW and Audi, arguably the techiest automakers, are below average.
