Well, for the first time in a very long while I had to post to the PHP core developers list last week, unfortunately the result of which was not particulary usefull.
The key issue was that 5.3.7 accidentally broke is_a() for a reasonably large number of users. Unfortunately the fixup release 5.3.8 did not address this 'mistake', and after a rather fruitless exchange I gave up trying to persuade the group (most peo

A ray of light for PHP - Lukas Smith

A little more than a half year ago I announced my retirement from PHP core.

Since then I have directed my focus elsewhere like Symfony2 and not the CMF project. I do not regret the decision.

The main reason to step down was that it was just a too taxing up hill battle to move PHP towards a more open and transparent development process against the inner circle who preferred things to stay as they were back when PHP was by far not as popular or relied upon.

A few days ago I announced my retirement from PHP core via twitter and the internals mailinglist.

Actually I have always felt a bit weird calling myself being part of "PHP core" since in all the years I have never added any code to core, actually I have only removed some code as it was being moved to PECL.
