Why an Open Source Forge Matters

Linux Today  Tue, 12/06/2011 - 04:00

Sourceforge: I've had random people come up to talk to me at conferences to ask what I'm doing at SourceForge. The basic message is always some version of this SourceForge has lost its way over the past few years.

PHPNW11 Conference – The Saturday Audience - Stuart Herbert

Planet PHP  Thu, 10/13/2011 - 01:00

The PHP North West User Group ran it’s 4th (and largest yet!) PHP conference – PHPNW11 in Manchester last weekend.

The audience is a key part of any conference, and each year the PHP North West conference manages to attract more and more people back as it establishes its reputation for being one of the very best PHP conferences (and indeed, one of the very best UK tech conferences) around.

Going to San Francisco - Henri Bergius

Planet PHP  Tue, 05/17/2011 - 08:03

This weekend, after Falsy Values, I will be flying to San Francisco for a couple of weeks.

There are some conferences:

However, as there is quite some time between these two events, it would be interesting to meet cool people and/or projects.

So if you're in the area, drop me a note.

CfP Mania - Stefan Koopmanschap

Planet PHP  Mon, 05/02/2011 - 05:32

There's two PHP conferences right now that have their CfP open where I'm one of the people who will be selecting the proposals.

I would like to invite everyone to submit to these CfPs as both conferences are awesome!

The upcoming month is a crazy month in terms of PHP conferences. There is a lot of very good conferences going on, and I'm very happy to be attending three of them!

I will either be speaking or hosting an uncon. It is a busy month and I'm looking forward to it, and I hope to see you at one of these!

Ideas of March - Jason E. Sweat

Planet PHP  Sun, 03/20/2011 - 21:38

One of the things I love about Twitter is it enables me to stay in contact with the PHP community, and in particular the group of speaker I have come to know through PHP conferences.

My friend Chris Shiflett tweeted about the “Ideas of March” calling for a revival of the blog as a form [...]

It’s not a conference… (redux) - blog.phpdeveloper.org » ...

Planet PHP  Sat, 03/19/2011 - 03:10

It’s interesting – sitting here writing a few emails, sending a few tweets – I was reminded of a me from not so long ago.

He was the one that tried to convince you that conferences aren’t about the talks. He pointed out that the real key to conferences was the people you met there.

I’d sort of forgotten him until just this morning, and I wanted to invite him back to the stage.

Speaking at Symfony Live 2011 - Stefan Koopmanschap

Planet PHP  Fri, 12/10/2010 - 13:23

I am very happy to announce that I will be speaking at both of next year's editions of Symfony Live. In February I will be travelling to San Francisco for the American edition of Symfony Live, and in March I will be present at the European edition of Symfony Live in Paris.

At both conferences I will be giving the same talk: Don't use a screw when you need a nail.
