RIAA Sued For Racketeering Yet Again

Techdirt  Fri, 11/21/2008 - 15:28

A few people have filed lawsuits against the RIAA for racketeering in the past, though these charges have always been dismissed.

AOL Sued For Putting Ads In Email

Techdirt  Fri, 10/24/2008 - 13:17

We Americans sure do love filing lawsuits for just about any reason. Techdirt  Tue, 09/02/2008 - 19:30

This is hardly the first time we've seen such a case. In fact, the issue of whether or not companies can force their consumers to go to binding arbitration (which sides with the company somewhere around 95% of the time) over filing a class action lawsuit has been decided in favor of the consumers' rights to file the lawsuits over and over and over again.

A Kansas man has filed what he hopes will become a class action lawsuit against Time Warner Cable. In a preliminary ruling Monday, Alameda County Superior Court Judge Bonnie Sabraw said Sprint Nextel must pay California mobile-phone consumers $18.2 million as part of a class-action lawsuit challenging early termination fees.
