LinMin adds key API to its automated provisioning tool

LinMin Corp. beefed up automation of its cross-platform Bare Metal Provisioning tool.

The new version 5.2 from the Redwood City, Calif. startup now includes an Application Program Interface (API) through which a business process can initiate the provisioning of additional servers or desktops.

The tool works on physical or virtual servers running Red Hat, Novell, Ubuntu, CentOS, Fedora, Asianux and Microsoft Windows.

SEP adds online backup for VMware

SEP Software LLC, a German-based company with U.S. headquarters in Boulder, Colo., is introducing SEP Sesam 3.4 backup and recovery software with additional support for VMware this week at the fourth annual Red Hat Summit.

Known primarily in Europe, the company has been expanding its U.S. presence for about 18 months.
