Today was the kick-off of the ZendCon sessions.

It started off with a keynote by Harold Goldberg, the CEO of Zend Technologies Inc., and Andi Gutmans who together did a review of PHP's growing role in the enterprise with some case studies.

They also made some announcements:

• Release of Zend Studio 6.1
• Partnership with Adobe
• Release of Zend Core 2.6 for IBM System i
• Dojo integration in Zend Framework

With the recent release of the 1.6 version of the Zend Framework, Andi Gutmans has posted some thoughts and highlights of features in the new version.

Andi Gutmans has pointed out an effort that Adobe has proposed that would go a long way towards adding AMF support to the Zend Framework.

As mentioned by Ivo Jansch, Andi Gutmans (of Zend) responded to the recent speculation about a buyout of the company in his keynote address at this year's php|tek conference:

Apparently, beards and programming languages have a direct correlation with each other, at least according to Tamir Khason.

His latest list (a “take two” from this older post) reinforces the idea, pointing out lots of different languages and the people involved.

As announce on the C7Y website today, Andi Gutmans will be presenting a keynote speech at this year's php|tek 2008 conference.

Andi Gutmans has some great news for Ubuntu users - the Zend Framework will be included in a future version of the linux distribution (Hardy Heron, Ubntu 8).

We got some great news from Stephan Hermann. Stephan is one of the chosen few MOTUs in the Ubuntu community and has spearheaded the process for getting Zend Framework included in Hardy Heron aka Ubuntu 8.04.

Hardy Heron is slated for release in April 2008 and going forward we will work closely with Stephan and other MOTUs to make sure we always have the right bits in Ubuntu.
