Google Tried to Buy Lala: Lost to Apple

Apple wasn’t the only company chasing web-based music startup Lala, it seems: Google was also in hot pursuit, with aspirations to delve deeper into the online music business.

Google lost that battle, with Apple acquiring the company for around $85 million, according the WSJ .

Had Google bought Lala, it would have been able to monetize the sales and subscriptions from one of its partners in Google music search .
