1.Excellent - finally something I can easily understand!
(Australia) January 19, 2005 - 5.0/5 stars
I bought several other books on design patterns and frameworks, they all went straight over my head, the explanations were all way to complicated and written by pointed headed professors for pointed headed professors, this book explains it in a fun easy to learn matter..
2.The best entry-level title on patterns
(Savosa Switzerland) January 4, 2005 - 5.0/5 stars
I was pretty surprised to see the Head First team covering design patterns, since the topic easily lend to dry, academic, books. I am even more surprised by the end results, It's the best entry-level title on patterns... read full review
3.Trouble with GoF? Read this first.
(Somerville, MA United States) December 28, 2004 - 5.0/5 stars
As another reader said, GoF is the best book on patterns. Sure. It is THE book. And if you can pick it up off the shelf without knowing anything about patterns to begin with, and read more than a chapter without... read full review
4.What's with the hot chick on the cover ???
(Chiavari, Italy) December 17, 2004 - 5.0/5 stars
So, you got your ideas about Java and basic OO programming fixed and want to go deeper? This is the perfect book to help you in your quest. It's an easy to read but still very technical and precise tutorial... read full review
5.A really fun way to present technical content
(Chiavari, Italy) January 21, 2005 - 5.0/5 stars
"Head First Design Patterns", from O'Reilly, is a true joy to read, which is saying an awful lot for a tech book. Eric & Elisabeth Freeman have succeeded in taking a potentially mind-numbing technical stuff and presenting... read full review
6.Spiffy, Rewarding, Inspiring
(Minneapolis, MN USA) January 27, 2005 - 5.0/5 stars
I bought this book because I felt I was missing crucial parts of programming "theory" and it definitely filled in the gaps. Then, there was the added bonus of re-inspiring me about programming. First of all, they claim... read full review
7.Awsome!!!
(Minneapolis, MN USA) May 31, 2005 - 5.0/5 stars
The best book of all time, I wish lectures and training courses used the techniques that this book uses. One thing that would make it better is color pages, but you cant have everything. you dont have to poke yourself... read full review
8.Great book especially for beginners!!!!
(Missouri, USA) January 31, 2005 - 5.0/5 stars
I have skimmed through a lot of books related to design patterns, and this is the best beginner book I have found so far. It is fun to read, and easy to understand, More importantly, unlike many other design pattern... read full review
9.Very good book for learning design patterns and better OOP
(Lakewood, WA USA) January 28, 2005 - 5.0/5 stars
Ok, I need to admit that I'm only into this book about 30 pages, but I've already had some very big Ahas. I checked out a couple of books on this subject, and this one is quite readable. I didn't get it on Amazon (I wanted it now), so I paid too much, but it's worth it.
10.Way Cool ... Worth the Bucks...
(PA USA) December 11, 2004 - 5.0/5 stars
This is an excellent book for learning patterns. It is technical sound and entertaining. I buy every book out there on patterns. This one will join the ranks of one of those read from front to back. It is very well done.
