Australia Plans to Filter the Internet. Again.

According to the AP, the Australian government plans to start filtering certain web destinations in an effort to block harmful content from users in the country.

The obligatory filter, which is likely to be implemented in 2011., would make Australia one of the strictest democracies as far as internet regulation goes.

As always, the cause seems a noble one: it’s supposed to protect children from sexual violence, child pornography and crime-related websites.
